Not for the squeamish. Pictorial video tracing the decomposition of a deceased coyote over the summer months. Surprisingly, the earth didn't absorb the carcass as much as the carcass absorbed the earth. Still waiting for the results from the lab tests, sadly there's been other predators in this area dying from eating rodents poisoned by overuse of d-Con rat poison.

Eight seconds of the babbling brook we followed (and forded 15 times) all the way up Serrano Canyon. It looked and sounded so lovely.

Tested for Baby Bearing!
Not often you hear that phrase, but it is true and quite wonderful. Michelle demonstrates the technique, and her hiking companions, Jess and Florencia, look on. And oh my, what a doll she is wrapping up.

The trails in this area are multi-use, here's a couple bikers (David and Ed) getting in their late afternoon ride in Rancho Potrero.
This Laurel bush was took a major hit on the Springs Fire in May 2013 swept this hill. Its new growth has sprouted around the old burnt branches.

These two lads hiked in about a half mile to find a gym to do battle (standing in the midst of the Native Plant garden, next to the ranger station). They blew off the sign attached to that orange cone warning of rattlesnakes, after all there was rumored to be Duskull in the area. Now that's dangerous!
I saw them later about a mile out, so a two mile round trip to play Pokemon Go, well played Santa Monica National Mtns Recreational Area! There's adventures to be found everywhere.

In the last few minutes of the day, a incoming marine layer gave us a few welcome clouds.
